Problem details: During gameplay, at a consistent point, the game freezes up and crashes. I didn't time it but I did try it on other beatmaps to the same result, I'd guess it happens 15-20 seconds into regular gameplay?

I've tried:

  1. Running the game updater (possibly of note is that most times I launch the game it prompts a short update, I don't know if this is just the client checking for updates or if it's having trouble installing some sort of patch)
  2. Changing my skin (Between default and Wintherest https://osu.ppy.sh/community/forums/topics/1498493?n=1)
I'm using Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) and installed osu! using osu-winello (https://github.com/NelloKudo/osu-winello). For now I'm using osu!lazer, which I like, but I've heard of some "differences" (which, mind you, totally fly over my head) which along with the popularity of it make me want to try to fix stable before abandoning it entirely.

Video or screenshot showing the problem: https://files.catbox.moe/7qq3r2.mkv ; gameplay is just in auto double time for brevity but the crash is at the same point in the song as it would be on regular speed.

osu! version: Stable 20240820.1 (latest)

Does the crash happen if you are using the default skin?

You'll need to locate where your crash logs are located, and once you find that, see if there are any osu! application logs in there. If there are then copy and paste the most recent one into this thread here so we can take a look at it.

The crash does happen with the default skin as well.

And, I found the logs folder, the most recently updated log (17259982850.nauth.log), alongside the others, are just a massive wall of gibberish, will that help you out?

As long as its a crash log, not a log from the osu! folder <Logs>, yes it may help.

Is there a specific way that crash logs are denoted or stored, separate from logs? I only see the "Logs" folder, and no other file or folder seems to imply it would have a specific crash log in it.

I tried the wiki instructions on getting logs and it mentions going to the "Logs" directory, upon following those steps I have a new list of logs, which are as follows; osu!auth.log, network.log, performance.log, runtime.log, update_success.log, update.log, session.log

Would any of these help?
