I think there might have been an elona thread before. I didn't care to check, though.
Elona: http://homepage3.nifty.com/rfish/index_e.html
Elona is an easymode roguelike that is kinda fun once you get into it. Shit, I really don't know what else to say about it. Honestly, I only include it in here because I thought it was good to keep all elona related affairs together. I really just wanted to talk about
Elona Shooter: http://www.kongregate.com/games/noanoa/elona-shooter (this is a flash game)
Elona Shooter is a defend the castle sort of game. It's not easy. It's not "balanced". It is fun, though, and each new game will be more enjoyable than the last. Advice to first time players: Play casual mode, and play a hunter. Bowguns are really good early game.
Other tidbits of advice:

Other tidbits of advice:
- Aim for critical hits, each monster has a different weak spot (Except laser dragons, I dunno about those.)
- Impact is an excellent mod on automatic weapons
- Upgrade your house first, another ally helps out a lot
- Try to aim for a few medals every game you play, as they'll make new games more enjoyable
- The reloading skill and weapon mod will make your life less hellish
- Use grenades and repair hammers if things get tough
- Upgrade looters after the house, also pick up some storage, and maybe
- Upgrade the smith to refresh the smith's inventory without AP cost.
- Party skills are great to have on allies if you don't want to bog yourself down with that skill.
- Pistols are great if you get critical hits, awful if you don't
- Keep an anti-air weapon and an anti-armor weapon handy. Small guns can use a laser pistol for anti-armor.
- If you have neither, use grenades until you get one.
