When you're looking at someone's profile, do you tend to judge their top scores to see if it's good/bad or not?

I don't quite get your implications, but I'll try explaining my thought processes..

[In short, yes, but only relative to the player, time, and myself. Can't really make a comparison between tech, balance, and speed based player]

Before judging anyone based on their top scores, you must know first the nature of the said map. Let's talk about Accuracy first. Some players has better or worse accuracy than others. From there, we can see that a certain top score is relatively bad or good for that kind of player.

You see, in osu! standard, Taiko, and Mania (idk CTB) there are many kinds of maps such as speed type, tech type, gimmicks (idk if this exists in mania or not), etc. From the top scores and the nature of the map we can first determine the strength and weaknesses up to certain point about this certain player. So if this player has mostly 99% acc score on other type of maps lets say tech maps with relatively the same degree of difficulty, and they scored a different type of map with lower accuracy (speed map) let's say then that player is better tech player than speed player.

There are also meta maps, like some patterns are rated higher than others while it's not always accurate. It means that certain chain of patterns are rated higher SR in the current pp system whilst it's not an absolute measurement whether or not it's harder than the maps rated lower. So first, you need to know the maps the said player played before you judge. But yes, yes you can.. Up to a certain point that is.

If it's one of the following:
• Someone I know
• High Accuracy (99% for generic aim or consistency, 95% for Gimmick, Tech, Alt, Low AR, HR, EZ, etc)
• Sum maps that I can't just get over if but others can

They yes. I sometimes curious how they can did it as well. It'd be something so that I could learn something from it

Of course. One's top plays are generally a very good indicator of their skill level, so I can quickly gauge how good someone is from them. Also, one's top plays are also usually representative of their strongest skillsets, although not always.

Now, do I judge people from their top scores? That depends on how you define "judge". If your top play is 100 pp I'm not going to treat you badly or remind you of it, but I can safely assume that you are a weaker player than someone with a 400 pp play, and presumably also have a weaker understanding of the game, its mechanics and skillsets.

Not really. Of course I will look to try and get an idea of their skills, but I don't think negative about a player if their scores are bad. They could just be pushing themselves so they get lower accuracy scores. And even if someone's top plays are worse than mine, the skill gap won't be that much compared to me vs. a great player. So it isn't my place to judge somebody like that. Plus, you can become a great player no matter what type of maps you like playing, so I don't think negative about the type of maps either.

I'll look to get an idea of what I'll need to get to that rank (if it's a higher-ranked player). Or for sniping.

Normally I don't judge for anything because I'm not really interested in that. Only if I'm there because a player is asking about how their profile looks will I really say anything (or if they're indirectly talking about it by complaining about 3*+ maps being hard when they're 7-digits and have relatively recent 1-2* maps that are B-ranks, for instance). People improve at their own rate, and if you're not complaining about the effort why should I judge your results?
Sublime
When I look at other peoples' profiles I usually like to view things like play count, replays watched by others, number of rank 1's, etc. But typically I like to compare my scores to people around my skill level but are better than me on maps that we play. I especially like to see this with mutualed people. I don't "judge" negatively but I do like to see when my effort has "paid off" so to speak.

well I suck at the game so my top scores end up being pretty much the same type of map because I can't fc weird cut stream finger control 5 stars (even though that's what I play a lot of the time)
so not really
Duck o-o
I just look at their pinned
Top scores are cool and all but i cant really tell what they imply a lot of the time if idk the maps
Especially with the pp system being how it is (glory days and zan ei should nottt have given me over 300pp for example)

I could find their top scores, not to comparing my scores with their much but to find out about their habit, skillset and to find good maps that I can enjoy
