Let me introduce myself; I've been an offline player for most of the time I've played. I haven't cared about rank or PP because I play for my personal growth and achievement. I don't interact with the osu! community, I don't fully understand the ranking system, and I don't follow top ranked nor pro players. After having the video linked at the end of this post on my YouTube recommended, it has helped me codify the exact reason I feel so apathetic to the ranking system:
Combo feels completely arbitrary and unnecessary in a game about how accurate you are at clicking circles.
Shouldn't the most valuable metric be the total number of mistakes made on a map? From my understanding of the current system, missing once in the middle of the map is far more detrimental than hard choking at the very start or end due to the total combo of the map and the significance that combo plays.
If you wanted to nitpick, the difficulty of the section you miss in would be valuable to know, but that is also a blindspot of the current ranking system. What do you all think?
