I've been playing for a while, and am about to break 400k. (Hooray!)

My problem is me thinking that the score that gets me there should be noteworthy. I already have a parasitic "pp = bad" mindset, but this just completely stops rank gain.
How do I stop this intentional rank plateauing?

It literally doesn't matter that much as long as you don't intentionally pp farm, I'm overranked myself (played too much HDDT on easy songs) as long as you practice consistency, you'll see you'll probably get less pp, but you'll catch up to your rank soon.

pls enjoy game
pp = side effect of playing what you like
dont feel guilty for it xd

It doesn't matter even if you intentionally pp farm. Play the game how you like.

I'm thinking now that this isn't really about pp.

I'm afraid that if I play normally, scores that I'm proud will get buried under scores from easy maps that give a lot pp. I want to highlight plays that I'm proud of over ones valued by the pp system.

I think avoiding rank gain was just a byproduct of this thinking.

Than just go for a score you are gonna like?

Pinned scores.

Also, the truth is nobody will be perusing your top plays looking for impressive scores anyways. How often do you go to another player's profile and go through their most played with the intent of looking for impressive scores?

I might look through top plays for potential SS snipes, but...

I'm not really highlighting them for other people, I'm highlighting them for myself. I want to know that those scores exist and exist in an easily downloadable form.

I'll see how pinned scores work for me though, I always thought you could only have five of them but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks

This doesn't really address the 400k thing though, but I suppose I should just let it happen naturally.

If it's only for yourself, you could just throw all the scores you want to save into a spreadsheet or text file, along with gdrive links to the replays.

Now realizing the full extent of how dumb this is. I'm just gonna farm some random five star and get this over and done with

Well, it's well and good to not get hung up on things, but at the same time don't screw over your personal milestones. Find a map you like (map itself or the song) at, like, 40-50pp, and get a good FC on it. That'll do.

(...we're at the age that even 400K's get 100pp...? Wow.)
