you can’t gain raw pp, pp is weighted by your top plays.
the weighted pp is the amount that you receive in your total pp. read more about the weighting system in this wiki page.

alr i see what you're saying. I even read the wiki page , however I've been playing with hidden and have beaten scores without it and gained nothing.[clouds] wrote:

Like I haven't gained a single rank in probably the past 5 days. No matter what scores I've set it seems. Am I really being weighted that heavily now that some of my top plays are with hd ?
-edit died and gained +1 xp. more reward for a play that i didn't even through compared to the others
there may be other people that pass you, since rank don’t get updated till you submit a score.
you can also check how much a score was weighed in your profile in the “Best Performances” tab.
after submitting a score, you can check how much pp it was worth and how much you gained in your total pp by scrolling down.

There are calculators online for you to check based on combo and acc.

but shouldn't my overall pp increase as well? afaik as long as I've been playing if I gain pp it shows in my overall counterNissingMo wrote:

Osu only counts your top plays for pp. Your scores are ordered from best to worst and each score is given a weighting. This means if you keep getting scores at the same level you will get less total pp each time until you receive nothing.linnxo wrote:

For example your top play is weighted 100% which gives 1.00 x 129 = 129pp
Your second top play is weighted 95% which gives 0.95 x 118 = 112pp
The only way to increase your pp on your profile is to replace these top scores with other ones that are worth more pp. You have only set one score worth anything today and it was a 61pp play. Its only weighted 3% so your pp would of barely changed.
