here, you can debate about the question in the title, it can be very interresting to see what the osu forum community think.

That depends on the reason you're playing it. If you just enjoy the game, then it isn't a waste of time. If you are playing with the goal of becoming a top player, and don't enjoy yourself if you aren't constantly improving, then it most likely is unless you're lucky enough to have good genetics. People are very quick to dismiss Aryn's point on the grounds that people just play for fun but he's right that a lot of people are grinding away to become a top player when that's realistically not possible for them and they aren't enjoying the process.

I almost agree with you but even if it's "realistically" not possible i think that the guys who do that are enjoying the process, becoming better and better, it's really satisfying to do better than before, for me osu is not a waste of time because if you have a reason to play it so you don't waste youre time

It'll be different for everyone because everyone values different things and gets different things out of playing osu

For me I consider it a waste of time sometimes but mostly not because I really enjoy it and see it as one of my major hobbies which I highly value
NissingMo
That's like asking if hobbies are a waste of time. It's only a waste of time if you consider it one.

No way this braindead debate is being brought onto the forums, I thought we were safe.

I have 2000 hours and at least in my opinion it's not, although I just play for fun and going for cool scores (farming is boring).

And why would anyone question themselves based off of what a 15 year old says.
AccountWontWork
its a complete waste of time.

Yet, even then I still love playing it. I mean most games are a waste of time, we play games to enjoy life a bit ya know? that's why even though its a waste of time I would still do it, because osu! is a game I love.
Fysora
I think “waste of time” should be explained, it depends based on the meaning

Self-consciousness is a bitch for a lot of players it seems, even more so among the upper echelon of players from what I saw, also my goat

Thinking is a waste of time. Stop thinking, play more.

if you have fun playing the game then why is it a waste of time
SnixWasTaken
What are video games meant for? To distract yourself and have fun, if you're having fun, its not a waste of time. If you're not having fun, then it is a waste of time and that applies not only to this specific game, but to most things in life.
There isn't really anything to debate here and the answer to that question is obvious.
Nanofranne
Simply, no.

I cherished my achievement in this game and will never forget it
