I recently switched to full area because I thought it looked cool (216 x 135 from 125 x 70.31.)

Understandably, I dont feel as comfortable on full area but I used to play on an area much smaller than 125 and the switch from that smaller area to 125 wasnt as bad as the switch to full area.

Does this mean anything or am I just overthinking?

There are many full area plays like xootynator who is in the top 50

You can 100% get good at any area with enough practice.

You're overthinking, if you still don't like full area after around 2 weeks to a month of practice just switch back. Experimenting isn't a bad thing, I switch to 1680x1050 from 1920x1080 and I prefer it way more and play better on it than 1920x1080 (raw input enabled and using tablet).

This guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySS_RsMJd0A is top 5k and he uses full area on his Wacom PTK-1240 (area of 487.68 x 304.8) users/12858572

yes you can.

this me like 2-3 weeks into SFA with an area bigger than even xooty herself. (254mm x 158.75mm)

go to 4:13 for the real SFA experience lol

this also applies to mouse, I've used dpi from as low as 250dpi to as high as 1600dpi

After you start moving arm, bigger areas don't really require any playstyle/grip change - just move arm movement.
