I've seen them in collaboration projects, but I've never really known what to do with them. it might have to do something with notepad or .osu in some way, but i cant seem to find out another way to get the hitsound by manually copying them in (its so fucking tedious) soo i need another method, can you guys help me by any chance?

People hitsound 1 difficulty, usually with circles only at the centre of the screen, then ues something like mapping tools to copy the hitsounds onto the other difficulties.

they mean Mapping Tools quite literally: https://mappingtools.github.io/

all of the standalone hitsound copiers that I've heard of have some unfortunate flaws while I've never heard of the one in Mapping Tools messing up maps so I'd recommend it over anything else
