[Archived] Cursor lag/freezing

Problem details: Cursor lag/freeze when playing a map. (doesn't happen in the menus/outside of osu!)

osu! version: Stable 20240102.2 (latest)


I have tried everything I can possibly think of besides formatting my pc/using a different pc. I've changed from cuttingedge to stable, fullscreen/no fullscreen, raw input on/off, changing sens up/down, refreshing beatmaps, reinstalling osu, playing with only 1 beatmap in the songs folder just in case it was because I had too many maps, tried different fps', changed stuff in gpu drivers, restarted pc, closed quite literally every application I could find, closed everything I could in the icon tray, changed skins, tried compatibility mode on/off, reduce fps drops on/off, render at native res on/off, and I've probably tried some other things but this was all I could think of. I have literally no idea what is causing this. It started happening maybe around ~2 weeks ago.

update: tablet works just fine. i went into a game, tablet worked perfect, then switched to mouse (in the same game) and my cursor started lagging. idk if this means anything but i seriously dont believe that my mouse is the problem considering it works perfect outside of osu.

If the tablet's fine then more than likely the problem is stemming from your mouse. I'm actually 99% sure it is.

I'm not a big techie but considering the millisecond-reflex nature of osu there may be an electronic component in your mouse that's just bugging out in game. Try switching to another mouse and see if that helps.

I'm not a big techie but considering the millisecond-reflex nature of osu there may be an electronic component in your mouse that's just bugging out in game. Try switching to another mouse and see if that helps.

unfortunately you seem to be right. seems like ill need a new mouse. thanks.

Maybe try a different USB port? Or maybe it's a driver issue. What's your task manager looking like? Is your PC using a lot of resources while in osu? I suppose you could reinstall the game as well if you haven't tried that.

Edit: Or perhaps it could be the skin. Sometimes they can be a bit heavy. For a minimalist skin try 105 Chocolate

the peaks are when in game

its not a usb port problem since this happens with my wireless mouse when plugged in and when not + with the other mouse that's plugged in to a different port.

i've already reinstalled the game.

and it's not the skin, it happens on any and every skin I use.
