Hello, i've recently downloaded a few skins and i've extracted and placed them into the skins folder.. But when i open osu and try to change the skin, the skin is just the original skin you get when you first start osu (peppys skin). Anyone know what's wrong?

Thanks!

Are the skins selectable in the Skin Options menu?

In the Options menu, after clicking on the osu! default skin button, you should be led to the Skin Selection Menu. Are your skins there? If not, check for the following...

  1. All skins must have a skin.ini file inside their respective folder. If you've downloaded them, they are probably there, but it is safe to check.
  2. The directory for skins should be "[...]\osu!\Skins\[your skin here]\". In other words, in your skin folder should be the folder of the skin, and inside the folder of the skin should be all the skin elements and whatnot. Make sure the individual files aren't lying around aimlessly in the Skins folder without a central skin folder to go inside.
  3. If all else fails, try downloading an .osk file. You can drag/drop them into the game or just drop it inside the Skins folder without a problem.
Anyway, if you have any other questions, you should ask them in the Technical Support board. This board's for general discussions of things not necessarily game related. ;)

Should probably go in the tech support section or very least skinning. Anyways.. can you provide the thread links to these skins, and I'll try to download them myself and see if the skins themselves are bugged?

best not ask there. you're far more likely to get skinning issues resolved here -> t/51694
