Context: my school is celebrating the United Nations Day, my section was tasked to present outh Korea, and we were divided into 5 group, but my group was tasked to show "Famous People" in Korea. We don't know any, but we also don't want to put figures who are unfamiliar to locals (Koreans)

Here is the format that I made to wrote down types of Famous People:
Actors:

Historical:

Politicians:

Singers:

- K-Pop artists:

*my groupmates keep saying Kim Jong Un and it's cringe*

Your groupmate's choice is not that cringe. Since he's "famous" and is also technically Korean, albeit from Northern part of the peninsula.

On a more serious note, as somewhat of a history nerd (but not Korean) maybe Admiral Yi sun-sin? His career is quite extraordinary tbh.

You may add Sejong The Great as an historical figure, he created the current Hangul writing system.

Also maybe the current president of South Korea (Yook Seok-youl) and, as Jangsoodlor said, Kim Jong-un is still a famous korean politician. So except if your group has to do about South Korea, then yeah.

For actors and k-pop artists, I don't think it's hard as you just have to check the most popular korean movies and k-pop groups and take the actors and singers names. Maybe add some people outside of k-pop genre like PSY. (the only one I know)

But yeah for more historical or politician figures, you should wait for a korean to answer that topic.

Perhaps Sejong the Great who developed the Hangul writing system (as long as deceased people are allowed)
