Especially on harder diffs, it is nearly impossible to even pass a map with HDHR.

nah it's not memory, it's reading. I have tried HDHR before, and though i cannot say that it's easy, it's possible.
Can always use a wider resolution with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Should help.
