Why do some professional players lose pp in a good play?

The players lose points i hae no idea why.

Score is combo-based, so if you have a play that has 200pp but taken by a worse play due to getting 20 points more, they lose pp

They lose pp because the play that they submit's worth less pp than their previous best play on the map while having a better score. It's generally due to a less good combo/accuracy.
