Did YOUR taiko skills and experiences transfer over to Taiko no Tatsujin? I'm talking the arcade Taiko no Tatsujin, mostly. The Nintendo versions are region locked (sadly), but Playstation ones count too.

Well imo only your reading skills are useful...arcade Taiko needs arm speed and stamina which you don't really have just by playing taiko in osu

EDIT:

I'm fortunate to have access to Taiko 13 as well as a Chinese version of Taiko that has Japanese menus at the only good arcade in my city.

I've found skill transfers in terms of being able to read maps in addition to memorizing the sound patterns you need to make happen, but arm muscle memory is alot different to that of your fingers.

only my interest was carried over since I only played <4 songs back when the machine's still here in the arcade :< nuh uh, just realized

I played the arcade version when I visited China several months ago, which was also my first time playing TnT.

My mental skills (reading and reaction) transferred over, but unfortunately, as a result of being used to my KK/DD layout, 1/8 beats (mainly DKD/KDK ones) crushed me.

I got pretty sweaty playing it, but my arm muscles weren't tired at all.

Too bad arcades (that have this and other rhythm games) don't really exist in the US or in my area.

As for me, my skills carried over from Taiko no Tatsujin. And I have to say I am better on arcade than on the game itself (minus stamina issues). Probably due to the different mapping styles here, I guess

My skills from osu trasnferred luckily to TNT when I was playing. To be honest, I didn't expect it at all. I thought I would fail badly, but thanks to my skills in osu-taiko, this wasn't the case. lol
TKS
almost never played.
the Bachi stick is heavy for me because im so weak and delicate like a girl
Juuryoushin
Never played, sadly ;;
I'm like TKS, though my playstyle can be somewhat similar with the real Taiko gameplay, with drumsticks.
DestinySonata
I can read the notes easier, but my playstyle with osu!taiko and tnt are still completely different.
I alternate with the latter while with the former I prioritize the right side more.
All in all, yes, Taiko experience did transfer

Maybe there are still some guys who might wanna add something here?
To be honest, I find that topic interesting. French players might experience it soon, since they will have a TNT AC machine (these luckers).

I don't need no AC to say it helped me a lot, since I played on a Wii game in Japan Expo. And passed 8-starred Onis in 20 mins .-.

You can try yourself. Get two drumstick-like objects and an appropriate piece of furniture (e.g. chair, armchair, high table, ...) in front of your computer, open osu!, put on Auto Mod and bang away. Remember, Don is the middle, Kat is the rim/side.

You may look a little dorky, but it's really fun and you'll find that it's surprisingly easy.

When doing this, you don't have the stamina factor
Playing Taiko AC is really, REALLY physical

Nice try!!

I too always feel excited when playing AC.. You will get used to the exhaustion after playing sometime.

I got to play for the first time recently as well. All i can say is stamina was a bitch. I could still do complex and dense pattern, but only on lower bpm.
I tried mint tears and literally died.

Also timing was very hard.
