UPDATE => CWC 2023 GF TB IS OUT NOW, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE SONG AND/OR MAP????

If you want to know why, I am currently working on a custom song to be used in a game of mine as a "final boss" theme, but this time I want to take some notes from all the world cups with custom songs used in GF TB of all gamemodes.

(SPAM ALERT)-Not important, but if you want to know about the game I'm currently working on...
I'm developing a rhythm game (called Adrenaline) which features a similar gameplay as osu!mania 4K combined with a story element.

Below there is a full list of all custom songs used in all world cups as a grand final tiebreaker pick. Simply choose the ones that you liked the most.
I need you to explain the reasoning about your picks and do not hesitate to share everything right here (if it's based on the beatmap, composer itself, song duration, constant BPM changes, anything you want to add).
(please, if I missed something or some links do not work, let me know and I'll fix this forum).

I play standard, so I don't have much to say on the other gamemodes. I've also included maps from non-OWC tournaments.

SSS

Aoi - King Atlantis (from Corsace Open 2022 GF)
- song is great, has a distinct final boss atmosphere
- mapping is excellent and very techy
- a lot more difficult than usual

Camellia - OOPARTS
- song is excellent (as expected from Camellia); lots of variation, each genre is distinct and executed well
- mapping is excellent and changes style according to the genre

Kurokotei feat. Sennzai - escape (the looking-glass, and what alice found there) (from OWC 2022 SF)
- song has a lot of variation, feels like a story
- mapping is excellent, lots of techy patterns

A

Yooh - RPG
- song is good, map is good
- nothing special about it, just overall good

SUPER MWC KART - Purple Palace
- song is nice, has a large range of bpm

aa...hisuichazuke... - steganography
- song is good, has a large range of bpm
- i don't play mania but the mapping seems good

katagiri - Palace of Melancholia (from Corsace Open 2021 GF)
- song is good but needs more variation in bpm
- mapping is great and switches styles often

Camellia feat. Nanahira - Energy * Drin-ko Fein-chan! (Camellia's "MONSTERISTIC" D. M. P. Remix) (from Corsace Open 2018 GF)
- song is crazy and energetic, which is good
- mapping is great

IT LIVES & Dr. Ushuu - Never Alone (ReeK's "Hitorijanai" Remix) (from Indonesia Tournament GF)
- genre switches, bpm switches, mapping, map styles, song variation all very good

USAO - TAPIOCA (from Corsace Open 2020 SF)
- song is fine but needs more variation and bpm changes
- mapping is excellent

Sad Keyboard Guy, Myntian & Sleepless - Chroma//Surge (from OWC 2022 QF)
- excellent song
- lack of bpm changes
- lack of changes in mapping styles isn't good

C

Noah - Maid to Chi no Kaichuudokei (from corsace 2020 F)
- no bpm variation
- song and mapping is excellent but feels like a normal map instead of a tiebreaker

katagiri - kyuukou
- not much song variation
- doesn't seem to be much mapping variation either but I don't play mania

D

seatrus - EXXTRA JUDGEMENT
- feels very underwhelming
- worse than the SF and QF tiebreakers of the same tournament

I cannot agree more with you. I feel like the case with King Atlantis and OOPARTS are a totally different reality from where we are. Both songs are bangers by themselves, but I yet don't discredit the other songs, all of 'em are cool in their own ways :D
