[Proposal - Metadata] Exclude multiple versions of same length group from standardisation

As I visited and read about a proposal for official extension standardisation, we found some edge cases where sometimes a song may have multiple versions of same length group (e.g two short versions, two different game versions, three long versions). Mostly, these songs have different version markers even though these are technically fall under same length group.

Because of that, I want to propose a rule to exclude these songs from standardisation.
If a song title contains short or game version markers, the markers must be standardised to (Short Ver.) and (Game Ver.) respectively.
  1. This does not apply if multiple versions of same group present (e.g two short versions, two game versions). In that case, use the marker provided by the primary metadata source.
Note: This proposal assumes current ranking criteria and is separate from official long version proposal. The wording can be adjusted if official long version proposal is accepted.

That way, we can honor artist's version name for the song, as well as clearly differentiate which version is which. Do note that this proposal doesn't cover the case such as:
  1. Multiple game version present with no markers on the song title.
  2. Songs in which specific official short/long version used in a game.
  3. TV Size songs.
Example case
  1. Song title (Short); Song title (Game Cut)
These are standardised to: Song title (Short Ver.); Song title (Game Ver.)
  2. Song title (Short A ver); Song title ~Short B ver~
These are left as-is: Song title (Short A ver); Song title ~Short B ver~
  3. Song title (Game ver.side A); Song title (Game ver.side B)
These are left as-is: Song title (Game ver.side A); Song title (Game ver.side B)

The proposal wording can be better, but I'm not sure how, since I don't speak English. Any thoughts?

Edge case that should be discussed in the original (Long Ver.) proposal thread, not a separate one here. Even so, this shouldn't be an issue, I doubt anyone is dumb enough to remove adjectives from standardisation e.g. (Special Short Version) -> (Short Ver.) instead of (Special Short Ver.)

It's not, because the standardisation assumes that any marker that would signify that it's a short/game version must be changed. This would cause a problem if multiple short/game versions present, because it's hard to differentiate it.

While it's true that the problem I mentioned is for long version, it's inappropiate to derail the topic if this kind of issue could happen regardless length or game.

worked this into community/forums/topics/1762241?n=1 - we should close one of these proposals as they're now kinda the same thing XD

Well, should we lock it and scrap this proposal?
