(This is a bit of a long one) I started playing Osu about a month ago. I knew that it was full of anime and Japanese songs since my brother used to play it a lot, and back in the day, that's the main reason I didn't play it believe it or not. I outright refused to listen to anything that wasn't in english. That went for watching things too - I didn't touch anime since most of the english dubs sucked and I didn't want to watch something that was in Japanese.
That changed when one day I decided to watch AoT, because me and my friends played that really small old AoT tribute game. I'd played it before but this time it made me want to watch the show. I watched the english dub and really enjoyed it. After that, I watched Cyberpunk edgerunners, the english dub and enjoyed that. Then I watched Erased (The japanese sub). It was the first time I'd watched anything in Japanese. I really enjoyed it. It was a bit annoying trying to watch and read the subtitles, since sometimes I'd miss something cause I was reading and had to go back, but I loved it.
Fast forward a few months and I decide to download Osu. I love it. At first I tried to avoid anime and japanese songs, until I found out that most english and pop songs are extremely terribly mapped. So then I branched out to some anime and japanese songs.
Man, do some of them go hard. I have a playlist now of just songs I found on osu, and most of it is japanese and anime songs. Some of my favourite artists that I've found include Eve, Yorushika and Aimer. Yorushika is probably my favourite. Their songs are so awesome. I've got a playlist of most of their songs that I've just been listening to on repeat recently. I may not understand what any of the songs are saying, but they basically fit my exact music taste - a mix of rock and pop.
Osu has really helped change my mind about Japanese music. I used to always find it weird that one of my friends always listened to it, but now I guess I understand.
