(This is a bit of a long one) I started playing Osu about a month ago. I knew that it was full of anime and Japanese songs since my brother used to play it a lot, and back in the day, that's the main reason I didn't play it believe it or not. I outright refused to listen to anything that wasn't in english. That went for watching things too - I didn't touch anime since most of the english dubs sucked and I didn't want to watch something that was in Japanese.

That changed when one day I decided to watch AoT, because me and my friends played that really small old AoT tribute game. I'd played it before but this time it made me want to watch the show. I watched the english dub and really enjoyed it. After that, I watched Cyberpunk edgerunners, the english dub and enjoyed that. Then I watched Erased (The japanese sub). It was the first time I'd watched anything in Japanese. I really enjoyed it. It was a bit annoying trying to watch and read the subtitles, since sometimes I'd miss something cause I was reading and had to go back, but I loved it.

Fast forward a few months and I decide to download Osu. I love it. At first I tried to avoid anime and japanese songs, until I found out that most english and pop songs are extremely terribly mapped. So then I branched out to some anime and japanese songs.

Man, do some of them go hard. I have a playlist now of just songs I found on osu, and most of it is japanese and anime songs. Some of my favourite artists that I've found include Eve, Yorushika and Aimer. Yorushika is probably my favourite. Their songs are so awesome. I've got a playlist of most of their songs that I've just been listening to on repeat recently. I may not understand what any of the songs are saying, but they basically fit my exact music taste - a mix of rock and pop.

Osu has really helped change my mind about Japanese music. I used to always find it weird that one of my friends always listened to it, but now I guess I understand.

Yeah I used to really hate anime and non-english songs too. I didn't like the japanese artstyle and how weird they sounded. It's only then when I started to learn their language that I started to give them a chance as I needed learning material. I slowly grew to love the culture and eventually became a weeb without ever learning japanese lmao.

I take this as an opportunity to learn to give everything a chance. It's a great way to learn more about things you aren't familiar with and you maybe find something that you'll love, like with JP music here.

Also nice music artists. All of them are good but I personally find eve to be better in terms of his song themes and singing. He has a unique voice that made me stick with him for years.

reminds me of my old days when i tried to avoid nightcore songs as much as possible, now you could say i'm into it, even if it's just within osu!.

It is nice people start to actually look at something they refused to even touch before. I remember listening to a Japanese song for the first time when I was like 5 or 6, I liked it. I don't remember but maybe that was the first song I heard in my life. But I didn't listen to any music (or rather avoid listening) from when I was 10 until 12 because I feel like music are getting repetitive. And the first song I listen after that was a cover of the song Lemon by Kenshi Yonezu. Then I listen to the original, it was life changing for me. Then I listen to Paprika, and then all of his previous songs. I can't even think if he is actually the same person because his songs are unique from one song to another song. For a year, I only listen to his songs. Then I found other singers like Lisa, Mafumafu, Yorushika. They have such diverse characteristics. Lisa with the strong energetic voice mafumafu with his high vocal range, Suis from Yorushika with her gentle emotionful voice, and Kenshi who can do absolutely whatever tf he wants. Truly an amazing industry
