1800hrs, improvement with streams for 2 years is still very slow

Hi, I've made posts about this in the past but its regarding my streaming ability. I have probably been learning streams for probably straight up a year or two. While I have improved tremendously during that time frame I'm still not satisfied of where my current ability is at.

While I have cut down my play time I realized playing more isn't really smart. Its about diligently improving and having focused sessions hence I only play stream maps most of the time now. Ive racked up alot of scores, and played lots and lots of stream maps.

I am still struggling to fully stream 180-170bpm confidently despite me putting so much time into it though. I realized maybe its cause I started learning streaming when I hit 4 digit and I had to break all my bad habits then build from scratch. Im still learning streaming at an incredibly slow rate though no matter what I do I feel like.

I was able to almost fc "Words I never said" with hardrock but with 89 accuracy. and also Glory days Maki's extra with 93 accuracy on an AR10 edit.

I feel like I cannot quite get down the flow of tapping and no im not using hardrock only to practice streams either as I know hardrock makes it 10x harder to accurately hit streams. I wish there was a "hidden code" where I could just unlock my potential to stream.

I know with hard work I can eventually be able to stream but I am just stuck in a rut. it's frustrating to have so much time spent trying to improve but only very little has come out of it.

Any Advice?

I still haven't learned everything as I'm a 6 digit, but Spazza17 has made a video where you shouldn't hyperfocus on things you're bad at. He played speed for so long that he even lost skill in other skils, so you should make sure to play many types of maps.

I would also focus on all the mechanics of streaming too, as there are 3 main things in my opinion:
Max speed, the fastest you can make your fingers move, 7 notes or less.
Regular streaming: A fast bpm, but you can still do it somewhat comfortably
Deathstream: Working on lower bpm stamina.

You have to make sure that you are relaxed while streaming. I struggle with this, I don't get how people can relax their hand on really fast bpms, but it's the only way you can get used to higher bpms.

bro finally someone like me frfr (though u still have 600 hours more than me), just know that you're not alone.

I couldn't stream 160bpm when I first reached 4 digit 2+ years ago and basically just decayed in skill for a year.

I can't help you, since I'm also still currently struggling trying to stream 180+ bpm consistently.
but at this point I've stopped focusing too much on it and just trying to play and enjoy the game since that's what osu! is.

It’s because you learnt streaming four digit and your rank 8k streaming doesn’t happen overnight and don’t hyper focus things practice fingercontrol that is how I learnt how to alternate on bursts I can’t speak much as a 6 digit but just keep on grinding.

Disclaimer I am a 6 digit classic player that only learned to stream recently as in the past few months. You have probably heard all or most of this advice before.

I learned to stream by not streaming lol, sounds weird but there are videos by e.g. tonehh that corroborate this. It's like I woke up wondering "how did that happen, I can stream all of a sudden" but in retrospect it makes sense - I had been playing and favouring extremely bursty maps. This is the number 1 stepping stone to streaming. If you can't consistently hit stacks of notes/easy triples, quads and fives you will never maintain streams.

My advice is to forget about using streaming maps as a tool to improve at streaming but rather as a benchmark for your streaming ability alone. Just play fingercontrol + bursty maps and the streaming ability will come naturally as a result. After so many hours you have to have good rhythm sense and aim so I can only surmise that there is a mental block between your brain and your tapping fingers.

Look into the flamingo method by digital hypno, honestly just play a ton of fingercontrol maps to force your brain and fingers to get in sync

play REALLY low bpm songs with streams in them, like 130bpm-140bpm. it helped so much with my finger control to build on my streaming and alt ability.

why really low? like you can just focus on the thing you're bad at.
what i noticed in my.. 2 years of playing is that hyperfocusing doesn't work for long periods of time. you gotta focus on the things that composes that skillset, which is streaming for you.
streaming composes of: finger control and flow aim.
low bpm trains basic finger control and flow aim.. so play low bpm!

also it works with other skills too! i improved so dramatically on HR because i concentrated on high CS and high AR, and im getting 200pp scores from it now..

im sorry if this doesn't help you but i wanted to give my 2 cents on your issue. ;~;

Maybe you should be more active in the game. I see your playcount gradually fell in recent months

What do you mean by irl reasons?

It's hard to give advice on streaming aside from generic stuff (like in my signature). Every individual could be struggling because of many different reasons.

Try to play lower bpm stuff like Lilyn recommended, not necessarily 130-140bpm stuff though, you can play maps in the 150-160bpm range and it'll be fine.

And don't just mindlessly play it, try to build a proper alternating motion and always try to analyze what's going/went wrong during your plays. Overstreaming? Understreaming? Finger locking? Randomly starting to mash keys? And then try to figure out how to fix that.

You might need to improve your consistency/stamina for 170-180 bpm bursts before you can stream confidently.

Or you might have to stream 150-160bpm first to fully understand the technique of streaming as others have said.
