osu!mania has an option to create a map in special keymode for 6K and 8K, effectively changing the map style into 5K+1 and 7K+1 akin to old and modern beatmania charts. Since the special maps (NK+1) played differently and cannot be treated as conventional symmetric maps, a descriptor is needed.

For example:
  1. beatmapsets/1652193
In this case, the map is mapped as symmetric 8K. It should not have any descriptor to differentiate it against 7K+1, but the mapper did on the map description.
  2. beatmapsets/1577144
This map does have a special mapping style, but does not properly tagged to differentiate such. The beatmap description also does not state such in either way, confusing players who actually wanted to play symmetric 8K maps.
Because of that, I'm proposing to add this new line in osu!mania Ranking Criteria:

Rules

  1. Beatmaps using the special N+1 style of mapping must be denoted as such under the "Advanced" tab of song set-up in the editor and "N+1" must be added to tags. For sets containing multiple keymodes, keymodes of this style must be denoted using their N+1 notation (e.g. using 7K+1 instead of 8K on difficulty names).

Using the clause "must" ensures the map to be properly tagged whether it's a special style or not. With that, hopefully the future special mania maps will have tags such as "5K+1 5+1 special style" and similar.

This also opens up possiblity to map multiple key modes without having a headache on naming the difficulties, since the rules separates special style descriptor (e.g 8K and 7K+1 separate difficulties).

I'm open to rewording and further discussion, since my English is bad.

I'm in support of this. I think it is sufficient to just have N+1 in tags though, and not necessary to put it in the beatmap description. My suggested rewording before I pass it along:

Beatmaps using the special N+1 style of mapping must be denoted as such under the "Advanced" tab of song set-up in the editor and "N+1" must be added to tags. For sets containing multiple keymodes, keymodes of this style must be denoted using their N+1 notation (e.g. using 5K+1 instead of 6K on difficulty names).

That looks cleaner than my proposal. I'll edit the OP.

EDIT: Which one do you prefer? NK+1 or N+1K?
Maxus
Looks like people prefer NK+1 after some discussion.

Anyway, agreed with overall proposal here. Will implement soon because there doesn't seem to be any objection.
