It's not a donation. But no, I don't plan on ever putting it on sale (don't really believe in sales).
I'm studying business, sales work duh.
Just some hypothetical thoughts: If you were to think of a sale or discount, you'd have three different options:
For a limited amount of time...1) ...
lower the price: That's a no-brainer, kind of obvious. However, seeing as supporter is already really cheap, it's not that attractive of an option. But it would definitely work well.
2) ...
award a longer span of supporter for the same price: In the case of osu, I would not recomment going for this directly, as some people quit the game and the longer support span might give them just that time before they leave, meaning they won't buy it again. On the other hand, one might interpret that having support might make them stay with the game longer, or even making them dependant on having it, thus making them buy it again.
3) ...
give out extras: people love them. There might not be that many options concerning Osu, but they would work really nice since they are additional and a rare occurence, something that would otherwise be impossible.
While this may seem very dull and boring, going indirect ways or making middlegrounds is great and ends up in some really neat options, just some for example:1) For a limited amount of time, the percentages of price reduction when buying support are increased. Either linear or exponential works, it both has it's pros and cons.
2) For every x month bought, you get an additional y days/weeks/month.
3) For every x month bought (high amount), you can gift another person y days/weeks/month of support.
4) For a limited amount of time, buying supporter gains you increased functions: more votes for requested features, increased beatmap submission and/or higher download limit (the last two might bring problems with them, especially the download limit, so first and maybe second option would be advised)
Sorry for a long post about something you aren't interested in anyway. (Sales would help you though, just saying.)
