Why is overmapping bad?

I rarely get feedback on my maps, but when I do, I always get told I'm 'over mapping.'

Now, I don't really understand what this means exactly. Maybe it comes from me being a drummer and I see a lot of opportunity in a particular part of a song, but I don't see why it's a bad thing, especially since the maps I make generally tend to be hard, but maybe it's shit hard, I don't know. I would just like an explanation if possible.

overmapping is not bad

overmapping that contradicts the song is bad

good overmapping is actually so based as it can make even the most boring song (in term of rhythm) interesting to play

some people say that it doesn't work in a rhythm game as you're not clicking on the rhythm, which is bs by the way as overmapping can be found in pretty much all "true" rhythm game (dump patterns in mania, pretty much the entire mapping meta in taiko,...)

Makes sense. Yeah, I really didn't see it as a bad thing at all, especially mapping high star shit. Thanks lol
