Rank getting down with mods..

Hi guys.. this is starting to annoy me

My rank is starting to get down when im starting to play this beatmap:

Felt- feel the flow(easy)
AKINO & AIKI from bless4 - Gekkou Symphonia (TV Size) normal&easy

Can someone please tell me whats going on? my rank is getting down fom 98,129 to 98,511

by the way, i used mods of HR,SD,FL to these maps.

If you used a mod and you got a lower accuracy than without a mod but you got a higher score, your pp goes down. Or atleast that's what I think is happening.

^ You are right. There's also the possibility that your new score triggered a pp recalculation (it's not always real-time).

I recommand you to not care about your rank when you are this low in the rankings. It is subject to drastic ups and downs since a lot of people have pretty much the same number of pps as you.

if you mean the map ranks, wouldn't it just be other people getting better scores than you :/

Depends on how it's weighted. Score isn't always everything, if you didn't gain many ranks (score) but lost a good bit of accuracy you might lose some pp.

i would of thought that you just wouldn't gain any pp.
taking away pp doesn't seem right

If you did get any higher amount of score it'll overwrite the previous one and give you PP accordingly. It doesn't happen often but I'm pretty certain it can.

Chances are this isn't the case in this scenario though, just saying that it's theoretically possible.

first i'd heard of that.
it's more likely it happened due to a pp recalculation though

Then you just haven't really looked into it because it's not that uncommon really.

A recalculation is one thing and probably the case, that doesn't mean you can't lose pp otherwise.

I have seen several cases of losing ranks when player got a worse accuracy on a second play on a map (a lot worse) just after his first play (where he went up in the ranking), so...

but well this system is quite opaque, anything can happen

then what should i do? do i need to use more mods or what.. Actually my rank gets up from 107K to 104K then to 98K simultaneously last night..

it just started to go down when my rank is 98K and played these maps using FL,SD,HR mods

You don't need to be using mods to rank at that point unless you really like them or want to rank up super quickly. I went from 150k to where I am now in a couple months without using mods at all. Just play more.
