hey , just wondering.
Can you just listen to the music from the beatmaps rather than downloading them, or is there a mp3 file inside the download which i can listen to? if not , is there anyway to listen to the song without actually playing it??

After downloading beatmaps, you can listen to the songs in the osu! main menu. There are mp3 or ogg files inside each beatmap download, but they will not be easily accessible in the future. I wouldn't get used to using osu! as a source to download music, nor does osu! support such behavior.

Alternatively, clicking on the image file next to the song on the beatmap listing allows you to listen to a short preview of the song.

The audio files are located in your x:\...\osu!\songs\[songname] folder where x is your drive ... is whatever folder you have osu! in and [songname] is the name of the song. Just find the song and open the folder, the audio file should be there. Also, typing .mp3 or .ogg into the search bar may save a tremendous amount of time as it singles out all the files.
