i've had this problem since yesterday but when i try to open osu it just opens the osu updater window and it says "your game client is updating", then it closes again. i already tried reinstalling osu and restarting the computer and the same thing still happens. please help
perplexity7
Did you try running "repair osu!" in your game files? Just go to your local files in osu! and scroll down a bit, you should be able to find "repair osu!", run it and see if it works.

Please don't suggest this. Reinstalling almost never fixes the issue. They also already stated in their original post that they tried reinstalling osu!, and it seemed to not fix the issue.

Please copy and paste the contents of the update.log into this thread so we can look at it. This log is found in the osu! folder in the osu!\Logs directory.

well is that the entirety of the update.log? If so, it isn't giving much information. If it isn't the entire log then please reupload the ENTIRE update.log either in the thread or to some external place to download/view the log.

Perhaps either the installer is crashing right after it "updates" or osu! is crashing on start up? This is a very strange case since it doesnt seems to be network related (indicated by logs)

Could you have a look and see if there is any crash information from osu! in Event Viewer and post it here if there is any? This guide shows how to do that: wiki/en/Help_centre#event-viewer

edit: day 7 of not being able to play osu
thanks for providing the logs, just to make sure: you could run osu! normally before? any software you installed on your pc around the time it stopped working?
none that i remember, the latest big thing thats happened on my computer is just me doing computer restore because my computer kept crashing back then, which was around a few days before osu stopped working. also yes i could run osu normally before

Do you have all latest windows updates installed? We had cases when the game was crashing and updating windows helped.

What on earth, never seen such error message, might even be corrupt .NET Framework. So your Windows is fully updated now, no more available updates?

switch to lazer

edit: from the research i've done it seems like you may have goofed when restoring windows, as error message 0xc0000242 is a boot configuration related error. Do you have any partitions on your boot drive, and are they properly configured? Does this happen with any other programs? Is osu! on your boot drive and can you launch it if it isn't?

try some of the fixes from here, assuming that you're on Win10.

You can always see if repairing the .NET framework might help, you can use the link below to see if that does anything.

doesnt happen to other apps and idk how to check if boot drive partitions are configured properly, but i already tried launching osu from a drive that isnt the boot drive and it didnt work. currently trying the steps in the link you sent.
