How do I place sliders "correctly." I've looked at many different maps and still don't understand how to place sliders like that.

Can someone teach me how

???? what do you mean "like that"? could you maybe elaborate what aspect of slider placements you are struggling with?

3 point sliders are always perfect circular curves, if you add a 4th or more you have to make sure nodes are evenly spaced to get balanced curves.

Red nodes are made by placing two grey nodes on top of each other and will make the slider anchor straight to it, which is how you get hard corners.

there's no definitive way to place sliders "correctly". Just do whatever that fits your map concept.

3-nodes-slider is not a perfect circular shape, but very close to perfect

Almost like what Zero said in a way. Like how do sliders fit the map concept? For example, if we're doing a slow part and it's mostly just slider spam, how would I map it? Another example is if we're doing 1-2's and you want to add some sliders, how would you add it into the 1-2's without making it feel out of place.

Hope that cleared the confusion!

just steal patterns from maps that do what you want
Zelzatter Zero
Don't straight up steal them, at least replicate the pattern in your own way to see where people is coming from behind those placements.

straight up stealing patterns is fine if they are generic patterns but it is worth trying to udnerstand why you like them

??????????

one thing is seeing a pattern you like, understanding how it works and applying it to your own maps. the other is just straight up doing ctrl+c ctrl+v on someone else's pattern and claiming it as your own.

the former is called taking inspiration, or copying a map/mapper style. the latter is called stealing. doesn't matter if it's generic. it's not ok to STEAL.

why did you quite the first half of my quote and ignore the second half where i say you should understand why it works with the song.

also generic means that it is common to many maps lo
Zelzatter Zero
Those two half barely correlates to each other. One side is knowing the pattern and knowing how to apply while the other is straight up stealing without any proper thoughts behind it. You're trying to make both sounds fine when in reality it's not.

Even if it's generic or not, stealing anything in general is not ok.

if its generic that means its been done a million times before by a million people lmfao i fucking hate these forums

get the fuck out then

imagine trying to tell someone that stealing anything, no matter how generic or basic is not okay (which i shouldn't even have to say because of how obvious it is) and then you get answered with "lmfao i fucking hate these forums" because the person in question clearly cannot formulate a valid argument to the situation and is clearly in the wrong

seriously, dude. grow up. and this isn't even the first time either

dont care if it is generic

you are literally stealing other mapper's effort on making sliders no matter how unpolished it is

get the fuck out then if you want to encourage people to steal sliders

What does me getting muted have to do with this lmfao it was for telling someone called suuk- to suuk- my cock can you get a real argument instead please.
Zelzatter Zero
Again, your point you're trying to make here is that you make it so that inspiration and stealing are the same level when practically only one is acceptable, and even with that it's in the grey area.

GMT can you please mute me for a day so I don't get tempted to reply

it's a slider pattern it's not stealing a whole map lol

why r u pressed
flouah
I think you guys are missing the whole point of what she was trying to say...

If we are talking about very common 1/1 and 1/2 sliders, how are you exactly going to take inspiration from a rather simple rect/curved/wave slidershape...? Now if we talk about patterns in general, you will end up 'stealing' them anyways since that's the whole point of taking inspiration from a certain map

You can make everything look good as long as it's structured, take a look at some of your favorite maps then see what slidershapes they're using and try to replicate them, if you place them consistently the result shouldn't be bad

love how you are avoiding the paragraphs i wrote entirely. "can you get a real argument instead" how about you try reading first?

yes, that is true. single circles and sliders have no room to be called "stolen". however...

the wording here implies that just because it's generic, it can be stolen with no problem whatsoever, which is NOT true. 1-2 patterns are very generic, yes. however, if i just straight up copied black rover's 1-2 patterns i would most definitely get flamed for it. don't you remember the kroytz RoR drama? "stealing" single sliders isn't a problem. what is a problem though, is if a person tries to steal patterns beyond a simple slider.

Creating sliders is making sliderarts if they are not straight line slider. However simple it is, still a slider art.

This kind of took a turn, huh. I didn't really intend for it to become a shitfest to be honest, my bad.

But, in reality, I don't think it's really okay to straight up copy and paste generic things because I don't think I would kind of just take anything in. Like it doesn't really help me understand why they should be there if that makes any sense. But looking at them and seeing how different people place their sliders would be just better, even if it is just the giga-generic sliders where one is upside down than the others.

And yes, I understand the point that he was trying to get which was like just use what you saw since it's been used countless of times. But everyone has a different reason on why they placed their sliders the way they did (I hope I'm not pulling that part out of my ass LMAO), and that was the idea that I wanted to get from this, if that makes sense.

Sorry about that!
