p/19803 : this post is old but still in the news I think.

FYI some external softwares can help you determine the right BPM for a song, the most popular being MixMeister BPM Analyzer.

Hmmm , Just try using some program for BPM detection as MixMeister BPM Analizer . It's not so hard to use it lol
Maybe your idea is than osu! should have a BPM detector . Probably is a pretty good idea :o

This would actually be pretty difficult for songs that have multiple or fluctuating BPM's. When it comes to songs like that any BPM detecting program will most likely end up being incorrect. This kind of feature request would be nice in theory but would only really work for single BPM songs.

Human ear is the best bpm detector
Just learn how to find it and everything will be fine.
Even for single bpm songs a software wouldn't be accurate 100% of the time

I have already implemented beat detection based on the sound library osu! is using, but the results weren't too satisfactory so haven't made the feature publicly accessible.
Does this mean that it will ever be publicly accessible? Maybe as like, a special beta? If it gets improved that is.

Personally, I think that this would be a nice feature to have especially FOR single BPM songs.

I would support this if the thread were a bit more organized. :)

For single bpm songs you just time it once and you're done, at least to me that is already about as quick as letting some software do it.

Even though this may be able to help out less experienced users, chances are it will be wonky and not always work as intended. Besides, if you want to map you ought to learn how to time a map as well.

Besides, the BPM isn't the only thing to set: there's also the offset, and that's a tricky thing that no software can detect since it's all personal.

An integrated BPM calculator is beneficial in that it can be upgraded to meet the game's needs. We have to rely on a third party to update the program and fix inaccuracies. If peppy knows how to make a BPM calculator, he can program it to calculate the BPM of any portion of a song and thus make variable BPM detection possible.

Not a bad idea, but the OP isn't organized enough, so say no for now.

Hasn't this idea been denied for several times?
