Alright, so here's a solution to your predicament.
You want a shimeji implemented into osu!... Well, why not turn full screen mode off and go into border less mode? You can see your shimejis that way. Or at least that's what's going on for me. I tried it, it works for me. It requires no work for peppy and it save everyone from posting here anymore.
For various things, likeI currently use a very fast computer, I can play with many many shimeji with out the slightest bit of lag. I don't know how slower computers react to just 2-3 but mine was completely unaffected after about 20-30 of them little bitches running around and climbing walls like Spider-Man... But a problem I am experiencing with some is that they'll walk on nothing, I usually don't run anything but osu and shimejis. So they walk on top of invisible windows.
1: I cant play in windowed mod, it lags like hell
2: That would work when you play the maps too, so it would be disturbing
3: Because I had to add a 3rd reason but now I dont have any idea :c
