Not to judge whats going on there, its just an observation. And I admit its sort of fun to make jokes about it too occasionally. I hope the people there can take it with humor.
And if not, just post there again. I bet the people there have some nice words for you (or always the same nice word, repeated ad infinitum)

I don't understand why you think it would be ok to call people ugly just because it's being honest anyway. If you don't think someone looks good just don't compliment them, i only compliment people if i actually think they deserve a compliment.

If someone asks me how they look like, I have a reasonable right to tell them that their hair looks terrible how they have it. If I don't tell them what I think and instead compliment them, with each time I refrain to tell, my compliments will become increasingly worthless. If I just compliment them every time, regardless of what I see, my compliments have lost all of their value.silmarilen wrote:

About being negative: Phrasing is important here. I can be like: "Omg, your hair looks like some tentacle alien killed itself on your head, you ugly fuck!", or I could be like "I really like that t-shirt! Although i've got to say, I'm not really fond of your hair, I think it would look better if you did [...] with it. Really nice pose though, looking good. And sweet setup in the background there."
I believe this sort of feedback is important. Personally, I feel better about myself when I have someone who is really paying attention to what I look like and gives me mixed feedback, because that reassures me feel like his compliments aren't just "for the sake of it". If I hear something negative about myself, the positive things stand out more, by contrast (+ he also gets the honesty bonus that comes along with it). The good thing is, that you can almost always find something good about the other person, so you can use this most of the time. And all of that while still being honest, providing something that is actually a real, differentiated and possibly even helpful opinion.
Sadly I see none of that in the thread, its just a bunch of people yelling "cute <3" at each other.
Idk how I would feel like if people just didn't comment at all. Probably similar to how I'd feel like if I was getting trashed.

In this situation, there is no correlation what-so-ever between your own appearance and your tastes. I retain the full right to call someone ugly as all Hell even though I'm as ugly as them - of course the way you approach it is a matter of your upbringing and isn't the point in this case.
