Hi, I'm here with my Osu! (oh god, why must with this opening again)
Somecase, when i select song some people dont have a map aaannndddd go away from room. That's little make some host angry (Yea you know, not easy to make room full filled)
I Just think how about making Recommended map for Multi?

So How This Work:
1. Map Information gathered from all players in room
2. The Osu! will match it with another player map information
3. osu! will inform in pop-up recommended maps and precentage all players in room have it

Um, lets make this simple. Detecting map earlier without notification (or maybe with notification on another player in room), and count the actually same map which players in room have, and show to host which one all players or someplayer have same maps with host.

Um Maybe this idea is duplicate (i dont know) but i think this idea not infringing privacy because little notification pop-up tells uploading map information. And once again uploading map information can be just once time per join room (you change a room again, you'll upload data again) can be first you start osu! (really really start osu! from 0 ), and data will updated will you have delete, add, modify map.

Some guy (for example me) would play multiplayer only to get new songs and don't want to play the song they have played again.
If this feature is added, they might not be willing to play multi.

Are This request useless?

Just wait and allow more discussion in this thread. :)

Nobody is forcing you to use said feature, you can clearly pick any map you like regardless of what the rest have. I believe things similar to this have been requested several times before though.
deadbeat
i think there was a request to queue up maps in multiplayer, or something like that.
*goes to have a look*

Are you talking about the "Jukebox" request?

I have mixed feeling about this request so I can't comment on it right now...

i dunno, i seem to remember a different request. that one might do for now, but i still haven't found what i'm looking for, but i do have a lead now. hopefully it'll lead somewhere ;__;

it's not the same, but it's a better idea imo. though it does sound similar to happy's request...

What if... Say you have 1000 maps and the other 8 players have all the maps you have? Wouldn't it show those 1000 maps as recommendations then?

So imo it shouldn't be pop-up message. Instead the amount of people having this song can be shown in map selection.
For example, '5 players have this map too!' or something like that.

that's right.

I'd certainly enjoy being able to see which maps everyone in the room and myself own, because sometimes when playing with friends we just want to play maps we already own however it can be difficult to keep track of and remember all the maps we all have.

I'm no specialist but I believe this would cause an insane amount of traffic and people with poor connections (read: poor upload) will suffer greatly. That is, if the server can even handle the traffic.

For example, what you are asking is to show a list of maps you currently have, but you have to know that those maps can have different versions (i.e. not updated, or just unsubmitted), also it's possible that a person doesn't have all of the difficulties due to an old update or something. I am not sure which file has all of this information stored (.db files in osu! directory), but if you take a look, almost all of them are several megabytes (if not more than a dozen) big. This is too big to just upload/synchronize because standard ADSL connection will take several minutes just to upload it.

Personally, I believe that this request is quite a nice idea, however I don't see it happening due to the massive requirements and possible synchronization required.

I think not being megabytes for db :P
Um, just like this, when osu detects new map, osu will send (maybe 1-2 kb) data about map title and dificulties.
so, if they play in multi mode. they just sit down and data has served already in osu server.
Maybe for some reason osu will make a dupicates to local disk to check every chages in beatmap (deleted, added, edited, ranked, etc) and send the update into osu server. that's will not make our Internet quota empty fast as drinking a water with straw (a 6 cm diametered straw) 8-)

You can't do that. How will the comparison be made then? You want to compare your songs to someone else, so how would you do this?

Well, this thing maybe will be hard to do.(Or breaking The Privacy Policy?)
So As Like i say last post. After uploading... and blah...blah..blah... (I'm noot mood typing now -_- )
After uploading data, Osu will compare host song list with another song list. and if found same map which that same map haved 2> users, the taskbar or sidebar will given the recommended map. i think osu will be little tired doing this task with 1200+ room each day :P . and map changes every 5-6 minutes.
Little confusing?, i know it. (I love confusing items, including kururu :P )
