[Web] Friends/Fans Ranking List

Hello,

yes, I'm interested by how many people you've got added as friend. A new ranking system on the Homepage, like that kudosu ranking :3
And I know Cookiezi would be #1 (or maybe peppy? :) ), but how many people have added him already as friend? Maybe over 9000?! Thats interesting :3

Several people misunderstood my request. It should count, how many people have added you as friend. 1+1+1+1 etc..
Then showing up the result on a new site in Rankings (Fan Ranking)

eg:
peppy #1 - 24923 fans
Cookiezi #2 - 9000 fans
rrrtyui - #3 - 5323 fans
so on

EDIT2:
lolcubes adviced me about the traffic which could cause.
Updating Once a Day would be enough.

Well I guess it could be pretty handy to see it, but I would like it to be visible to the user only. Else it might become a new popularity contest haha.

This would barely strain the server at all because all you'd have to fetch would be the amount of people under

Useless feature nonetheless though, there's far more useful stuff to waste processing power and bandwidth on even if it's not particularly heavy.

Hm..... on userpage into spoiler, like kudosu for explane ..and only mutual -yea.. that make sense. And it will be call "Mutual Friendships" ;)
But "friendship's top" or Fan top- it's kinda weird idea ...Who cares? (c) not practical stuff at all, just "fabulous faping" ?)

From what I recall there's a limit to how many friends you can have. I'm not sure if this was lifted though as I have slowed down on adding friends. Interesting as this idea is I don't think it's really needed because then people would pester others just to get added.

In short the friendship option should not be used as popularity contest but as a bond between two people too keep in touch and interact with each other, basically what friendship is.

I would however agree with the Fans idea. People add others as friends (no notice of this is given to the player at all currently) and are not mutual should become fans and could possibly be listed somewhere. I don't agree with making it have a ranking system.

This would just turn into a massive shit storm with people trying to get their name out there more by whatever means possible so they could appear in the top [insert number here] friends listing rating.

Like lolcubes said, the only way it could be counted as 'useful' without resulting in stupidity striking would be for it to remain as user access only.

I don't really see the use in this. Getting to know the numbers would be interesting ONCE. A few days after the initial release of this ranking nobody would care anymore I think.

It could be done as a supporter feature, for sure. I'll look into this.

And yes, adding this for all players would cause an infinitely complex lookup which would probably not be sustainable. Although it's not too bad due to the friend limit.

does changing database struture to record your following count and follower count work?
