For those of you who want to increase or decrease the difficulty of a beatmap! (without having to switch menus and edit the beatmap to save as a new difficulty.)

Why do I want this feature? To have fun! While playing harder beatmaps or(to make harder beatmaps easier to play on.)

I sometimes feel a need to up the difficulty of the original beatmap (Approach Rate, Circle Size, Overall diff, HP drain...etc.)
and I would like to do that in the Beatmap selection menu!

Professionals would want to practice AR10.3 = DT+AR9 or AR11= DT+AR10
because Hardrock and DT+ AR8 is too slow on certain beatmaps.... (on top of that why not add AR12 because some pros can easily read AR11)
Beginners would want to practice AR9 or 10 with larger circles ...etc.

You won't be ranked on the beatmap unless you play with the original settings.

To Change the Settings

The worst design Until someone photoshops it...

Disclamer: The main purpose of this feature is to have fun

As simple as I can put it. Being able to customize the beatmap's difficulty? Because currently when I want to manually change a beatmap's approach rate, I have to go in edit. I would save it as a new difficulty because I don't want to overwrite the original beatmap's difficulty? Very inefficient.

Yeah I check that page. It is not exactly the same thing...my idea is more general and not really for ranked play...more for practice.
You can duplicate this post if that author includes everything I said...

Is something really worth practicing if you have so few maps to practice it on that you have to edit other maps?
deadbeat
the problem is, changing the other difficulty settings affects total score, so there is a slight issue there. changing AR is fine though in theory since it doesn't affect the score multiplier

depends, this is request for a ranked or unranked mod, cause if it's for a ranked mod, then it would be different :p

Ranked or not, this has been requested before multiple times, sometimes as a new take on the Easy mod. Probably searching for threads about the Easy mod will pull up a bunch of posts suggesting this very feature.

Believe me there are maps that are very hard with DT+AR9 and only a few top players can FC them....therefore you need to practice DT+AR9 on easier maps.
Although most easy maps are AR8...I have converted over 100 maps to AR9 (it is a pain), much more intense and fun to play on!

I don't see how this is similar to the easy mod thread?.... What I want is more like moving beatmap options menu from edit menu to the beatmap selection menu.

Isn't this another Free Mod request with a twist? t/56606

sounds more like customizing hard rock to me :/

....it isn't specific to any mods. It is an OPTION to change the settings for your beatmap...like you do in edit

I have uploaded some pictures to make it more clear.

Quit spamming, the concept is extremely easy to understand. It has nothing to do with mods.

Its simply a shortcut to the difficulty settings found in the editor.

I would find this very useful, but I think peppy is against making trainning tools.

I started off reading t/141204 but found this thread and suggestion fits my idea more clearly.

With the advent of the 0.1 incremental changes to the editor I think it's time we revisit this idea. This would be an extremely useful tool for all players to use who are looking to improve gradually, not just HR or bust. I still agree that it should be unranked just like spunout, relax, and autopilot. I use relax to train my aim when my "click" fingers begin to hurt or autopilot to practice my accuracy when my aim hand hurts. This would give another way to practice and train specific areas that all contribute to overall skill.

I think incorporating this idea into a slider bar for each option of OD, AR, Drain, and CS would give players definitive changes in beatmap difficulty that they could then practice and increase individually as their skill improves. A player could practice higher AR without increasing drain and OD to the point that it is unplayable for them. It gives a more focused approach to improvement that you can tailor to your needs, allowing you to practice and improve reaction, accuracy, aim, and consistency on a wide variety of maps. AR7 + HR used to be the only way to practice AR 9.8, but with the changes to the editor players now have a much more gradual approach to AR10 available to them.

I think this should only work in the positive areas of difficulty, meaning a map with AR 8.0 cannot be changed down to AR 7.0 or from CS 5.0 to CS 4.0. This would mean that any map using this mod can only be "harder" than what it was originally ranked/submitted at. Again, "harder" is subjective to each player but making this unranked means it is only a training tool, not a personalized HR mod.

Many of the concerns raised in t/52873 had to do with ranked play and scoring. Osu! has undergone major scoring changes with ppv2 and the new star rating system. The old answer from that thread was edit your own maps and play those. This is still an option, but with the increased number or beatmaps available daily it seems unreasonable to edit every map that you enjoy just to make it into a training tool. Not to mention that there are 4 distinct categories that affect difficulty and adding 4 beatmaps per song in your library does add up rather quickly. Maybe not in terms of file size, but definitely in terms of clutter at the song select screen.

This is essentially the same as the tool found in t/201768 but with the addition of 0.1 incremental change and without the need to add more maps to the library. This would also allow players to spectate you while playing a map given that it would be part of the in game options. I will still be editing songs for increased AR or OD depending on what I want to practice, this just makes it available to everyone in a much quicker format.

My opinion is still supreme. Unranked or go home and we all know how much peppy loves unranked mods.
This is my only fear for this request

TL;DR incremental changes to each difficulty option. unranked
