So I am using a skin which I made by combining multiple skins. Now when I add a cursor trail, the cursor becomes kinda messed up and adds like some very high opacity glow which I don't like. How do I fix it?

You may be adding an @2x cursor without the @2x suffix. Simply add @2x at the end of the filename, so name it cursortrail@2x.
