I couldn't find this request with the search function so here goes

I'd like to see a feature where you can cut your slider by pressing S for example (like in sony vegas where you cut your clip).

If you have a long nice looking slider like this for example

I'd like to cut the part right before the big circular shape into this:

It would be cut exactly where you stand on the timing section and the second slider you get will start from there, while the first one backs to whichever beatsnap you are using (1/2, 1/4, 1/8 etc...) as shown in this picture:

Thanks for reading.

I'm no mapper, but I'm surprised that such a simple feature like this hasn't been implemented yet.

It wouldn't necessarily retain the same shape when you cut it. The slider's length would be determined by where you cut it. The end could be unsnapped if it didn't adjust for the snap. Adjusting for the snap would almost certainly change the slider shape slightly. Also we must consider whether it should snap to a hidden tick or not. If you have it on 1/4th and the slider end is closer to 1/8th, then should it snap to 1/8th or 1/4th?

It hasn't been implemented, because it is a complicated feature. A slider point isn't directly connected with a particular point in the timeline. also the shape that is formed when you take a slider point away may not be the same shape. It would be complicated to retain the shape it was before the point was removed. It wouldn't be that difficult, but it would remove the logic of how slider points create shapes. It would be necessary to have the game figure out how to recreate the shape of the newly cut sliders and distribute the points necessary for that shape. There will be bugs and it will be very difficult to calculate the shape of any slider.

Because it's not simple. Sliders' length is expressed in pixels, and even if you are wrong by 1 or 2 pixels, the timing of sliders will get screwed. If you correct the timing, it will no longer retain the exact shape you wanted.

I am not against this feature, but I think it's harder to implement (so it works properly) than people give it credit for.
