Similar to how mania/taiko can be mapped live by pressing keys while the music is playing, would such a composer be possible for standard?

I'm aware that there may be problems with slider ticks, so maybe just the start and end points are tracked live and edits can be made later. I'm sure this can save a lot of time when mapping, especially longer ones.

What are your thoughts?

Live mapping is already a thing in standard?
Step 1. Press play.
Step 2. Select circle or slider tool (or spinner)
Step 3. Aim around the editor a click I guess?

This really isn't practical and would have almost no use in ranked quality mapping, assuming a feature would be added that isn't what I said above.

Oh, I meant with z/x keys instead of mouse clicks. For example, you can just "play" with a tablet like you normally would and it would be snapped into notes. For mapping bursts this can save a lot of time imo

I don't really think this is a good idea. A lot of common patterns in standard use distance snap (so that time==distance), such as most streams, bursts, and a lot of patterns on lower diffs. The only mapping technique I could think this would be useful for is jumps, as they generally don't follow such a strict snapping.
