Hi osu!-mate,
i was looking for some ygo-beatmaps (i've made one by myself, not very good, but nevermind...)
so i tried yours and...i'm already learning the game, so i can play in best case maps with 4 1/2 stars (if they aren't too fast in timing)
so i came along 1 min with your beatmap before my fail...i like the song especially and you've done well on this level (hard), it's creative (so i favourited it)...but there's one thing I don't really like...the big distance between the single notes and the extreme curvature with such a speed...i mean: ok, it s harder, a better challenge and i think you tried to do the map suitable to the level (hard)...just in case you will do the same map on a lower level, pls dont forget to reduce the distance or lower the speed, that would be great^^

Thanks for your map (or the part i could play...), i'm happy to know that there 're other ygo-mappers out there and the most epic theme of the 5ds-series is reserved by a creative example^^ .

Thanks for the reply!

If you can't beat the song past 1 min, there's no way you're gonna beat the solo later on. However, the map is far from finished, and some parts need to be easier.

I don't think the spacing between the notes are "large", because of the BPM. Extreme curvature on the sliders, well, it's arguable. I have always held my mouse with my fingertips for fast and precise movement. If you happen to place your entire hand on the mouse and move your arm along with the mouse, then I can understand if it's too difficult.

If you wanna check out the whole map, just go in editor mode and press the test button. You can't fail in there.

As for your aimod problems.

Setting a timing point is as easy as going to whichever portion of the song you want to be heard in the selection menu and then going to the option at the bottom of the timing drop down menu.

Some of your timing points like the one here, 03:18:469 (1) - are different in both your easy and insane map. They need to both occur at the same time which will require just moving the easy one to on the beat.

Remember to re-snap all your notes after putting in the offset change and good luck with the mapping!

Thanks for taking a quick look. I have now eliminated all warnings/errors in AiMod, and the offset has been changed to 8014 which I found more precise.

All I need now is for someone to actually mod it for me. I don't think I'm capable of m4m, so it might get difficult...

I also want to know how to add custom hitsounds. Do I download wav files from here t/15407 and rename the file in my map directory to what has been posted here t/729?
I tried that, and my whole map basically disappeared, until I deleted the wav file. I must have missed something?

Thanks a bunch. I agree with a lot of it.

Image size is 16:9. Resizing it to 4:3 makes it really out of proportions.

Offset changed

Slider tick rate is kept at 4. I believe you want it at 1 because there are lots of moments where it doens't fit? I've put the soft sampleset on those sliders (barely noticable then). 4 is also good for drum rolls.

I hadn't noticed the hitsounds were that loud tbh, I've reduced it to 70 as I find that many parts in the song tend to "hide" the hitsounds at 50.

Combo's added.

I hate spinners, really.... But I can see the logic in adding spinners some of those places mentioned.

Try replacing the 2 close hit circles at 00:15:891 and 00:16:078 with a single slider. Same goes to the two close hit circles at:

Replace the 3 hit circles after 01:01:641 with a single slider with a turn added to it, and at 01:02:391, use a mini slider instead- like this:

At least 90% of your hit circles/sliders must be on the white tick, otherwise its your BPM that's causing these off-timed notes.

Please revise the flow of your objects.

ok, so I follow you completely until this part 01:15:703
I don't know if you did, but try muting hitsounds. You'll find that the song shifts it's beat in the choruses. I agree that it must be confusing though, but it's normal diff and I can't find a way to make it easy and still follow the beat/song.

All advice followed except the "off-beat" notes in start of the chorus until further suggestions come along.

I don't know if you're trying to help or insult me here, but I can say that notes are arranged like this:
1/4 = slider with repeat
1/2 = notes/sliders touching each others edges
1/1 = approx. 1 or 2 note distance

You guys are really serious about that it can't be ranked if the background is 16:9??? Seriously, who's got any 4:3 monitors anymore?

Normal: Focusing on the music will be hard I think. There's really no rythm to follow.... It's not like it's an instrumental track

Insane: What do you mean by anti-jump? It's not like the circle is far from where your mouse is when the spinner is done? I'll place the first note in the middle then.
I wouldn't say it's impossible with circle size 6. I put it at 5 for now, didn't seem to do much actually.

It's okay to have a 16:9 Background, but please make the resolution 1366x768 or 852x480, it's on the rule, you can read it at here https://osu.ppy.sh/wiki/Ranking_Criteria

Also, please give kudosu to the person that mods your map if you find their mod is helpful :)

I want to try this again, and I just want to know if my mapping is going in the right direction before I'm getting too far and have to ditch my work like I did previously.
If you stumble across this map a few days after I have updated it, please leave a message first as I'm still working on it and want to leave you with the most recent map.

I can and will only mod hard-insane maps and the insane diff is not yet finished. here's my quick take on the hard diff :3

HARD

00:03:328 (3) - move the slider for consistent distance
00:06:328 (3) - ^
00:24:516 (1,2,3) - the triples on the slider end is off imo. try putting 1 hitcircle at 00:25:078 instead
00:38:953 (4) - try single slider (non returning) here. feels better
00:56:016 (5) - new combo
00:59:391 (1) - new combo
03:21:516 (1) - the spinner kills the flow of the sliders. replace it with the sliders from the earlier part :D
03:32:859 (4) - move to 03:32:766 and extend up to 03:33:328
03:48:141 (8) - move slider to the left because it kills the flow
04:11:578 (1) - I LIKE THE BUILD UP FROM THIS! :D
04:18:516 - put spinner

OD 7 is too high imo. try to lower it down from 6-6.5
I like the mapping style all in all. most of the issues are from spacing and flow. good luck o/

Thank you for the feedback, I am currently out of town a few days and will take a look at it thursday.

On an unrelated note, I used to have 2 longer breaks in between the first and second verse,and ,the second verse and the ''heeey'' solo part, but someone old me that it probably would be better to map that as well.
I don't know, I think it's too much drain time and not that well mapped tbh.
