Been playing taiko seriosly for about two weeks and I have a long way to go but I'm honestly really happy with where I'm at. Finger lock and not losing where I am in a miss definitely need a lot of work still, plus everything else to do with taiko..but hey, rhythm games are a long road of work :)

playing "high speed" songs on 2nd week.. I remember only playing really really slow songs and gradually increases the speed everytime I can S slower songs.. goodluck learning Oni xd

It's kinda easier since I either play HDHR or DT on standard, none of that song even feels remotely fast just fingerlock and poor reading of patterns currently. Right before I replied I got my first 3.5* FC with 97% acc so I'm pretty happy about that

If you're looking for tips, I'd recommend learning how to full-alt tap
It's where you switch hands every note, but even normal alt taping is just fine.
Much higher up on the difficulty latter, your dominant hand is going to be under too much stress to keep up, and I had to learn that the very hard way. For me it took about 25% of my playtime to just relearn how to play (which took 1 day of playtime). Major worth it though, I've never been able to get such high plays.

Personally I would probably not try to learn full alternation this early in the game, but if you can do it go for it. For now though just focus on listening to the song and playing on rhythm. As long as the song guides you, even if you mess up if you stay on rhythm that lock up, or hesitation will go away. A tip I will give you is to try to focus not on the left side of the screen, but consciously move your eyes more toward the middle or right.

There is a lot more to learn that you should probably ask when you get to that stage because trying to do it early on might be more harmful than helpful and demotivate you from playing. Once you build enough skill though you will be able to break down your playstyle and rebuild it without harming yourself.

Why?
It's not difficult to learn only unless if you're breaking a habit of never alt-tapping.
I always encourage new friends to pick it up because it just saves them the headache and most usually they never run into any difficulties beyond "I'm a new player and I can't beat Futsuu lolll" which is a normal thing

I'm just saying if alternating is easier at first then go for it. Whatever feels comfortable.
