I'm looking to start full alting so that I can play higher bpm stuff, and I decided I'd try to learn it early-ish (I don't even have 2 days game time lol). For reference, I play kddk.

Other than the "play more", what tips would you have for full alting?

Play a variety of beatmaps, Play a beatmap with simpler pattern or lower star rating to begin with, Try harder beatmaps every once in a while.

There's nothing wrong with playing with full alt while you're early on the game mode.
