which type of conversion do you want? wav to mp3? YT to mp3? or something else?

Audacity is a decent audio converter but I don't think that's what you're asking. In which case, youtube-dl on github the best you can do when it comes to youtube to mp3

Not necessarily, its possible to get transparent audio from some YouTube videos.
