So, I know how mania works, I just don't know how and where to start.

Do you have any tips/maps for me?
Thanks!

Explanation but tldr sums it up
You can start by playing some converts, though some people may argue back at me. Since you're trying for specifically 4k, just slap on the 4k mod. This won't work for actual mania maps tho lol. Usually, converts range (with 4k mod) from 1-2.8 stars, so maybe you can try and find some maps that are specifically mania, as converts usually have awkward release times.

Also, try and find a skin if you haven't already. Try and tinker with the .ini of it, but make sure you remember the original settings just in case it's not fitting.

tldr: find some maps and try out different skins until comfortable

For maps, skill can kind of range a bit for beginners, so I can't really recommend anything, other than just knowing your physical limits and not injuring yourself. I recommend playing at around 1-2.8 stars, though. Converts are fine, though they can be awkward. It's just to get the fundamentally basic patterns of the game registered in your head.

Anyways, feel free to argue cus this is my first time recommending stuff to someone.

some people might advice you against this, but what i did as a beginner was find a comfortably long (2-2:30 minutes) map around 0.75-1.5 stars that i enjoyed listening to and playing, and just played that like 50 times until i was able to s rank it. it took me about 3 days to do, but after that i felt like i had greatly familiarized myself with the game's mechanics. it's a decent way to jumpstart your acc improvement and finger mobility. you dont need to s it, an A rank or an fc is pretty acceptable for a beginner.

the reason why some people might advice you against this is because they think it causes you to only build muscle memory for one map. this is definitely true for higher levels but not at all true for a beginner.

after that, strongly reccomend you try soome different skin shapes (circles, bars, diamonds, arrows, etc) until you find somethiing you're most comfortable with.

also, something very crucial is to disable bpm scaling scroll speed in the settings.

finally, have fun with the game :)

Really felt like reading myself beginning mania. I follow this!

try to gauge yourself, but really just play at your own pace
if you feel ready for 1* or 2* then go for it, but don't push too far

Also find a fixed scroll speed you like, it helps you read better.

I myself set mine to 21, but it's very arbitrary and you should just focus on what the game is about, fun.
