Combo colors changing mid song

There's this one map, https://osu.ppy.sh/beatmapsets/744238#osu/1642267, and it's combo colors change throughout the song. Since it's a compilation map, the colors change according to each song. I can see the palette of 8 colors in the editor, but I'm confused how they picked certain combo colors for each part of the song. I think it would be nice to know this at least, since I can't find it too easily when searching it up.

In the editor, choose an object, press Q to NC it, and then at the New Combo button at the right there's a small arrow on the edge. Click it and choose the color you want.

fyi, this is a valid technique, called colorhax
