Problem details:
I recently copy-pasted my osu! directory from one (C:) SSD to another (F:) and since then my osu!direct hasn't been working. Clicking osu!direct protocols from Chrome, FireFox, and Edge do not open osu! or start installing maps in osu!.

This is the FF error that leads me to believe it's an issue with the protocol:
Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (osu) isn’t associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.

Things I've already tried:

Restarting, relogging, running repair osu!

Unforunately I'm on Windows 10 Pro so I cannot use the control panel to set associations.

Here's my regedit and osu location (visible on the properties window); maybe I did something wrong.

osu! version: Stable 20201229.2 (latest)

Have you tried running the installer again?

If you choose the same location the game is already installed to on your new SSD, it will install on top of itself.

Yes -- I ran the installer when I first moved all the osu files.

I can try running it again, but before I do, can I get some assurance that all my settings, collections, and whatnot will stay the same?

Edit: I ended up trying to reinstall osu! with the installer by dragging it into my new osu! folder and got the error in this thread.

I renamed my osu!installer.exe to osu!.exe and it launched the game but direct links are still broken

Edit 2: I removed the osu! and osu! registry files entirely, ran the installer from the Downloads folder on my C: drive, selected the install path to be my osu! directory on my F: drive, and the installer fixed direct links for me! Hope this helps someone as I had to take some pretty specific steps to fix this 😓😓
