Mine was if I had to guess one of the Piano tap games like on mobile. Besides that, the true exposer to good rhythm game was Project Muse on the Apple app store, which was when I started to get into rhythm games. Now I just play osu! mania.
For me it was Piano Tiles 2. Been playing that game for over 2 years and after getting bored I switched to Love Live SIF. There I got my Royal Expert title (highest attainable skill related achievement) then moving to osu! afterwards.

Not gonna lie I played the hell out of Guitar Hero, got the first one on PS2, it had come out the same month I bought it. Followed those games for years. until Warriors of Rock, skipped over World Tour. Found osu in 2014, played consistently for a couple years and fell off, played some other rhythm games in between, even bought a controller for SDVX PC port (kshootmania) - and a personal favourite of mine recently has been the DJ MAX games.

I dabbled a bit with DDR and piano tiles, but the first rhythm game I really played for more than a couple of days was Arcaea. Still play it sometimes butnive moved on to a lot of other stuff

My Was DDR, well yes but actually no, my first game was Stepmania (Dance Party Dance Extreme).
When I saw the thread I thought mine was Hatsune Miku Project Mirai, but now that I think about it it was probably some random Roblox game
If i recall correctly my first rythym based game was piano tales 2 > DJ hero > More piano games > A game i cannot remember the name of > Geometry dash > osu!

Either DDR or Guitar Hero. I'm pretty sure it was DDR though.

i had a rhythm heaven megamix demo on my 3ds, and it was fun. It also introduced me to rhythm games
I first started with DDR Supernova 2 for the PS2 (Remember the softpads?). I've also played the original Rock Band for PS2 along with GHWT (Guitar Hero World Tour), both of which I still have (Not for long). Within the last year, I started with Quaver, then got into Stepmania 5, deleted it, started playing osu!mania, then got back to Stepmania 5 in the form of OutFox (Stepmania 5.3).
I get into rhythm game because Robeats, but the actual game is Piano Tiles 2. Kinda make me nostalgia, although the game has sooooooo many rip off
piano tiles 2 was my first real rhythm game exposure but robeats and osu is what made me get more into rhythm games
