I looked at NoFail post, and thought of another mod as inner mod of No Fail. This one is completely different from currently NF so I decided to open another thread.

The Everlasting mod have exactly NO punishment on score. It ensures you 1.0x score and nothing changes until you got your life bar empty.
After you failed once, you'll be prompted like in multiplayer games. And your hp bar stop growing; SAME AS YOUR SCORE.
You may continue playing, get normal judgments (You can hit 300), but nothing would be accumulated. Every note after your failure grants you exactly 0 point, though you may see what you get in your final score.(Though you would see 300s,100s.) You still need to play through the whole song to upload your score. And you are forced to get a D. (Or maybe F ,to be distinguished from other normal plays)

This mod has these advantages below:
(1) Like in the nofail post, it may prevent a player that, when actually be able to passes the song, get halved score due to nofail.
You may say that people who use nofail is psychologically weak. But as of osu! standard where life bar is extremely easy to be emptied, a player who may have 10% chance to pass the 2 minute period in a 3 minute song have to use no fail because if not using nofail, a failure in 2 minute period cause everything before become nothing, though the player may FC the forward part but just fails at the hard period. As 0.5x multiplier applied, NF may not present real strength but only the endurance, if not patience, of the player. but this EL may.
(2) This mod is better designed for matches.
In current team VS policy, whenever a player failed no score would be accumulated. This can't present real strength of players when in one side everyone passed but scored an B/C facing a team with everyone, if passed on A ranking , failed. And if no fail would be selected, these passed players would have their score halved - which is of course unfair to them. In this case, EL may do the thing, for effective performance would be considered and strong players getting fair treatment.
(3) Making no-fail playing style more reasonable.
This time in EL a player still needed to strive for not letting HP bar goes empty for score gaining, though in former NF you can just ignore the hardest part of the song and playing the other part.

I'm most talking by my o!m experience, but this may apply for other modes such as osu! and CTB. (Taiko doesn't need that - taiko only fails at last making EL nonsense)
If ranking for this mod is unsuitable, I still hold the point that it would be there at least for team VS.

What's your opinion?

I wish all normal fails were like this, not just a mod you put on.
Many also want to save their failed replays: t/87873

The only things I agree here is 1.0x score multiplier and being able to continue playing after failing.
It would be better like multiplayer, not submitting the score and continue increasing it normally.
Also I always think of F in the result screen for this kind of play.

That could work. How about this:

When a player fails a normal game, there could be an extra option of "Continue?" (in an arcade sense) in addition to existing "Retry" and "Quit." If the player continues, the game will resume with cursor and everything in paused position (and you need to click the circle to resume). Peppy might even get away without having to redesign the interface lol

Of course, since I'm talking about arcade, once a player insert coins and continues, his scores will be reset to 0.

No score submitted for ranking once a player has continued. I also agree that an F should be displayed at the result screen.

The NF mod can still be there for those who wants uninterrupted play, maybe with a few extra tweaks...

This is a lot better than OP's idea.

Yeah, that's what we really need.

Actually if in arcade music games, you fail and insert coin and your song START FROM THE BEGINNING. it won't start from where you fail (Actually most arcade games didn't implement pause :o )

I've seen some posts arguing to change the current pause method. (and easy 3-life implementation) It is really hard to re-enter the game when it is in its hot time when large amount of circles and sliders (and in o!m blocks) are going on. Since osu! standard has a policy to click at the point where you left making continuing easier, in other modes continuing just mean 1~2 seconds unplayable time.

And if you use this mode, you won't be interrupted when you fail like current play. Isn't that a good idea?

The problem with a NoFail mod which only deducts your score once you need it, is that there's no reason to NOT have it on. The current system works well enough, IMO.
