I LOVE rgb

Calling RGB lighting a marketing scheme is like saying different flavored soft drinks or different colored cars is a marketing scheme. Or even something as simple as PAINT in general is a marketing scheme. Just makes no sense. There is always a demand for people to be able to pick what they want with everything. RGB is no different.

And before you go saying something like "well PC lights are just useless period" think about how many seemingly pointless aesthetic things you have in your life. Could be a poster on your wall or a figure sitting on your desk. I mean, unless you're just completely devoid of all taste
or sense of aesthetic pleasure.

Just my opinion on why RGB haters are wrong c:

I actually don't even have anything with RGB haha!. just some red LEDs behind my monitors and a white led strip in my computer. I'm just saying why I think RBG makes sense and is a good thing.

It's pretty

I think anything aesthetics added to a product is a marketing scheme. having a car is great, but it's even better if it's your favorite color. so RGB lighting is, by default, a marketing scheme, which isn't a bad thing. they start becoming a bad thing, personally, when done in excess.

you started name calling for no reason, Akumace, and you got your ass handed as well. very nice setup Crispy. keep the name calling out of this. it's no use.

I suppose you're right. But I guess what I meant to say was marketing gimmick.
Also I'm not sure what you mean by "it becomes a bad thing in excess" because it's a pretty personal thing. Meaning nobody else is really going to be looking at your RBG setup but you on a daily basis. Again, all about options. The more the better in my opinion. Even if that means somebody really loves rainbow unicorn disco vomit. And they can put RGB in everything and I would be fine with that too. There's always the option to turn it off.

I'm not a big fan of the fast rainbow effects but I do like having the option to choose whatever color I want for my backlit keyboards. A single static color often looks better in my opinion.
Yeah, I agree.

exactly. although, manufactures should make their product great first, then add such things to it.

Don't disagree with you there. I'd still pick a solid high quality minimalist keyboard from a lesser mainstream company like Ducky any day of the week over a fancy "gaming" keyboard with RGB lighting, built with maximum profit margins and half the cost sunk into advertising and brand recognition. From mainstream companies like Razer and Corsair.

That being said, there are still very high quality keyboards with no compromises that have RGB lighting.

I actually agree, you weren't name calling, and I wasn't trying to hand you your ass.
Wasn't my intention.

How is saying "this guy's room probably looks like this" name calling. Get a grip dude. I didn't get shit handed to me just because someone showed me there room.

End of story. I'm not starting shit. I don't want to be on anyone's bad side but I will stick up for myself if I get called out for making a joke.
my bad there as well tbh. no hard feelings brother

As filler (boring outside lights), they're good.
As legitimate design, bad.
Nuuskamuikkunen
I actually like how it looks tbh.

But moderately though.

RGB lighting is not good if your playing games. All the light everywhere blaring at you is so distracting to what is on your monitor imo.
AmyRunes
Kinda annoying when its really bright but at the same time its useful during nighttime.
wowcake
RGB adds a kinda fancy effect, but personally, i prefer to keep it to minimum though, so it doesn't distract that much and.... less flashing rainbow puke
ItsZeanKun
For me, RGB is kinda cool because it is beautiful as rainbow!
Mentee
Everyone has their mixed opinions on RGB, but for me, it's just blinding and it's a distraction to work with. If I tend to do some work and get something done, I turn it off- if not and I just play some games, I turn it on.

cringe

I prefer static lights.

_ralsei
i personally like it
Yukanna
i like it, i just let others do themselves in general because as long as youre not hurting people in the process, its completely fine.
Foxi
rgb is nice, but i usually have it cycling and fading between two colors slowly
like white to violet, and back

rgb where you can't toggle the colors is kinda gross, though. imo
ShadowSt0rm
I like them since they kind of add an aesthetic to my room, I will admit they are kind of being overused tho
SkylarJeff45
Something to look when take a break from gaming sort of.
Iamn00bish
A big thing for me is the functionality behind the keyboard. For example an older keyboard I had would react to the volume of music with a visualiser sort of effect, like those old monstercat uploads on youtube. It just gives my setup bonus points really, no advantage or disadvantage.
Crysisters
I don't mind them, but sometimes they can be a bit distracting at times.
Expecially if it's changing colour too quickly
Christ31
Some people say more RGB equipment equals more PP/skills :D

Joke aside, I don't like having RGB on my equipment...it's distracting IMO
Prefer only white or off. Static white is enough for the keyboard when power outage happens. Yes, I'm that type of person who turns on light only when that happens xD
Anya
RGB for me is intended to be decorative yet not obtrusive. that's why I find myself disagreeing with RGB "patterns".
also, people who use RGB colors that differ from their keycap color are outright disgusting.
Minalinskii
I think it looks nice when it's one or two static colors, especially when it matches the color of the desktop wallpaper. Not so much when it's shifting rainbows though. I've never actually used the rainbow setting on my RGB stuff

I do agree with what you guys said over these past few weeks. I think static lights are a nice compromise, but I prefer them fully off.

it actually depends cause i have a RBG keyboard but i dont use rbg cause it hurts my eye so yeah, not everyone will love RBG
RBG is for the aesthetics of the set up if you hate RBG its fine
salve123123
not my cup of tea. i only use it when i'm playing at 3 in the morning when i can't turn on the lights
Ryoko
static color > rgb
Synphonica
Ok for me, it depends... if it is too much to the point where its distracting and it makes u have a headache... yep nope. If it is not, than I'm fine with it like my rgb two key keypad which is 25% lighting dim. But personally, 9/10 rgb would be a little too much which i hate. In short, I'm not a big fan of them
somebody_33
RGB works! It usually doesn't distract me when playing.
DumbNecro
Obnoxious and distracting if there's rapid flashing. I have solid, soft complimentary colors on my case and slow, light-blue fading on my keyboard and mouse.
Niktushi
Annoying.
Hexinity
Imo it depends on how they're used; for example, I have RGB lights around my desk, but I don't use them all the time.
I usually use them when I'm trying to get a nice, color-matching setup.
Sugar_owo
i like it, it's just more calm.
