I know I made another topic about lyrics before, but this is different enough, I think, to warrant the creation of another topic.
Anyways, my idea is this:
If a beatmap creator wishes, he can add lyrics to songs directly inside the beat and phrase markers. Like this:
(Hey) (now!) <--- Two beat markers
(You're an all) (star!) <--- A phrase marker and a beat marker. The represent the start and end of a phrase marker.
(Get your) (game) (on) <--- Three beat markers
(Go) (play!) <---Phrase marker with a reversal marked by . The first time it just shows "Go", then after the reversal, it shows "play!"
Does that make sense? Beat markers would have the words in them, and phrase markers could have the words stretched along their length. I'm sure something cool could be done with spinners too, like wrapping the lyrics around the spinner circularly spiraling in.
I also though about how this would affect having the numbers which depict the order inside the beat. It'd be hard to play without the numbers, I think. Where would the numbers go then? I've got a few ideas.
1: The number could simply be in there before the words. (1: Hey) (2: Now)
2: The number could be behind the words with the words overlapping, but not obscuring the number.
3: The words could be at the bottom of the marker and the number at the top, like this:
/ 1 \ / 2 \
\Hey/ \now/
4:Same as 4, but words would wrap around the bottom somewhat circularly to accommodate somewhat longer entries.
Also, if peppy ends up liking this idea and implementing it (a guy can dream, can't he?), there would have to be a mod to turn it off, like the no video mod. I can imagine some people would prefer it absent.
Anyways, yeah, I know, as I said in my previous topic about lyrics, that lyrics obviously take a back seat to more important features, but this would still really really neat, in my opinion. EBA/Ouendan are a lot more lyric-based than other rhythm games (like DDR) as far as the rhythm of the tapping, so I think this would be an appropriate feature. Thoughts, anyone?
