Yo I come from mania and I started playing this mode. It's pretty cool.
1. Is this game tiring? I saw some exgon plays and was wondering if you're playing at that level it would be similar to streaming like in standard.
2. Do you play unranked maps to get better (in other words treating unranked like practice and ranked like a test)?
3. Are the top players close to the theoretical limit? I watched some of their plays and I don't really see how you can get that much better.

1. Yeah it can be tiring sometimes, especially if you play maps above your skill level or play for long hours, but after a while of playing, you'll probably get used to it.
2. I prefer practicing in ranked maps, especially if you pass them they reward you with pp, but there are some good unranked maps that you could practice in.
3. It may look impossible but if your practice enough, put time and effort, and with the right mindset, you'll surely be able to recreate those "impossible" plays.

anyways enjoy your stay in ctb, hopefully you'll have fun playing it! :D

1. i play all gamemodes and catch definitely is the least tiring (while i consider mania the most tiring so yeah, pretty big margin in between imho). but it still is tiring at higher levels, yeah.

2. i usually play ranked maps. i did have a time where i played loved maps - not because of practising but i ran out of ranked maps to play in my range (there are only like 1.5k ranked map difficulties out there in catch. that's extremely low). but i find most loved maps, most unranked maps and all converts to be really unenjoyable. i do really like the mapping in ranked maps (no need to be farm maps but ranked in general definitely has higher quality) and it's a big part of why i enjoy catch overall.

3. well theoretically: everything that auto can do - you can do. and i think catch is definitely the gamemode where you can get closest to auto since it really is just timing (yes, just being a strong word in that context but still). there are some loved maps that still have no fc even remotely but are possible (like pacific girls beatmapsets/539728#fruits/1144582 ). there definitely is room for improvement but the level - of course with top players - is extremely high.

1. Don't underestimate this gamemode, it is responsible of good part of my right hand aches. It is indeed tiring, but mostly mentally.
2. I don't see maps as "practice" or "test" being related to its ranked status. I use to play pretty much anything, but mostly rank.
3. I'm not them so idk.

1. It can be if your grinding the same map for more then an hour or if your playing 5*+.

2. You could, but I haven't really needed to do anything like that. You could play normal osu! maps and convert them to catch (They do it automatically if your mode is set to osu!catch) since they have much different patterns. Catch doesn't really have an issue with one pattern giving way more PP for little to no reason (At least not one i've seen).

3. To an extent, yes. It's obscenely difficult to do things like 4-modding a 2* or using HDHR on an 8*, but it is possible.

I don't even have much playtime, but i'm already scared of permanent damages tbh, it's been a few times where i've had hand aches for over a week

1. depends on what you play, more and more maps feel relaxing the better you get. But in order to get better, it is best to play what you cannot do yet, so you'll end up playing those other maps anyways.

2. It is not needed to play unranked in order to clear the ranked maps. I recommend playing them though, because some of them are just great! The most difficult maps are also unranked.

3. Best example I can think of is that no one plays AR10+DT on difficult maps, which is theoretically possible.

Permanent damages would most likely have something to do with your eyes, for hand aches it should roughly be the same for piano players I guess?

1: Eh sometimes when you do not want to play and you feel bored
2: Eh i mostly play ranked maps as practice maps don't really do any thing for me lol
3: Currently we are, most top players are in a stagnant phase however in the future we might have more progress on who is the best
