How are jumpstreams/handstreams mapped in osu!mania?

Been trying to do some mapping for fun, and my streams just don't feel right. They always end up to basic and straightforward so that they don't really resemble the music or feel awkward to play. I tried analyzing some examples of what I consider well done jumpstream from Mazare Party [Ash's 4k Extra]. It follows a basic pattern of heavy beats with jumps and hands, avoiding 1/4 note minijacks. But besides that I'm completely clueless.

I have two questions:
  1. How do you place the single notes between each jump/hand? It doesn't seem like pitch relevancy, and it needs to avoid minijacking, so it seems they just put it randomly in order to accomplish the latter. However when I do this it just seems... random. When other mappers do it the stream flows very nicely.
  2. Whats the placement for hands and jumps? Like above, I thought it was random as long as they avoid jacks but it seems like they actually do follow some pattern.
Thanks for the help, really cool stuff

They just try to make hand and jump more consistent and comfortable to play

Sorry, could you clarify? When I try to do this I end up with boring and repetitive patterns, but they always seem to have a variety of interesting despite the music not changing much.
