difficulty names across mapsets

do you know any diff naming series? or are there any which you personally use which others don't? or any staples in difficulty names of a certain, or even many mappers? whether unranked or ranked, unless its a bad unranked map. its kind of fascinating, this idea of linking mapsets through diff names.

i'm not talking about single mapset diff naming, for example, naming the top diff of "Hachigatsu no Yoru" as [August] (sorry not calling out but this came to mind since it was playing on my screen at the same time). it's cute and understandable, but that doesn't really hold out across mapsets.

it took me about 30 minutes to finalize the diff name of this map.
it's because i had research about cassette tapes, know their difference from 8-track tapes, and consider how to not coincide the diff name system of the entire album of the song with the diff name system of my other album set, while still referencing songs from that same other set (since the song and the album itself does that).

for example...

Sotarks's [Melancholy] difficulty series of all his fhana maps
Sotarks's [Sotarks no Jutsu] difficulty series of all his Naruto gds
Lasse's (and some others, from what i observe) [Petal] difficulty series for his standout certain style of mapping (not gonna detail this though)

- a set of maps from Blue Dragon which are considered to be difficult in the past

tragic love and nostalgia I don't know where this came from but it keeps coming up in diff names. Doesn't seem to be any style but reform maybe?

i looked at some examples, since this set of diff names are really vague.

tragic love... maybe. theres not really a reason to specifically name it tragic love. so sure.
nostalgia is certainly used widely, but i think it is for separate reasons, and not because of mapwide connections within the osu! community. for example, you could reference nostalgia to a certain voice and feeling of a song, or you could reference nostalgia to literal nostalgia of songs covering some period of time (like a nostalgia compilation).
browiec's wisdom... it does count but it only appeared twice when i searched quickly. will count it though.

Amai chocolate's diff - It used to be something like A.C -ARX.N- (N insert any value from 1 to 10 indicating AR 9.N with 10 being AR 10). Now he changed to something above the line Titania or Titania BA with also, AR suffix at the end of the diff

Snow NiNo's diff also have this kind similar of stuff (Well most of the known super high star rating jump map like arles stuff have this diff naming with AR suffix inserted). For him, it's known for "rabbit jumping style". It is a well known diff that top player used to play to practice aim because of the usually awkward pattern to play

Also jieusieu have some established naming of "lemur" with some sort of lemur kind of animal(?), mostly known in his snow drive - araki , his map of kuchizuke diamond and some of the popular map have him as a gd like the vinxis mapset of no title

I think that's all I remember at the time, there are more but I'll add up and edit this post later if I remember something

its kinda amusing how Lemur has nothing to do with the songs at all, and everyone just went with it.
i was always confused as to why there was a lemur backgroud og Kuchikaze Diamond and No title. in the osu!memories compilation. hehe

i personally don't use any. if i'm mapping a song from an anime, then i'd do research before choosing a fitting bg + diff name.

for example, responsibility response. this song is sung by izumi akazawa, yet most bgs have a bg of mei misaki instead. now mei is cute, but that's beside the point. the bg should fit the song, so i'd choose one that has izumi in it. then after that, i'd choose a diff name. a fitting diff name would be, "Countermeasures" considering she's the head of countermeasures + she tries to prevent the catastrophe

sorry for ranting about something unrelated, but this just genuinely makes me mad.

although i still use Min's [insert diff name] when making gds instead of going by my new username, mainly because Min's is cuter than "Li's [diff]" or "Syao's [diff]"

i actually decided to come up with an idea for a difficulty series: "[insert character] needs to step his/her game up"

- usually used in songs about romance
- character is supposed to refer to the person who has a love interest in the main character (example: sakura x syaoran. if i were to map a ccs song, the top diff name would be "syaoran needs to step his game up")
- if the song doesn't mention a certain anime or ship, then the map would have a different bg and then the diff would be used to refer to the bg

probably won't release any mapsets yet, but it's just an idea i had
